Programs & Activities

Steering Committee

A group of community members, partners, and stakeholders who have joined RAYSAC to actively participate in community prevention efforts. We meet on the second Thursday of every month at 12pm, with virtual meeting options available.

Youth Membership Meetings

RAYSAC encourages teens to take a stake in their own health and wellness, and our programs all include youth input and participation where applicable. After school, virtual youth input meetings occur whenever a new message or campaign is available for critique. If you or your teen is interested, click “Join us” above and mention that you are a youth interested in our program.

DEA National Drug Take Back

RAYSAC helps raise community awareness of the dangers of prescription drug abuse and supports proper disposal of unwanted medications.

Red Ribbon Week

A National coordination of drug prevention awareness activities in the Roanoke Valley every October. RAYSAC is the proud sponsor of valley-wide contests and programs involving several school districts in our area.

Legislator's Roundtable

Discussion focused on Virginia laws and policies that may give communities new tools to address current substance abuse issues.

Roanoke Area Youth Substance Abuse Coalition

RAYSAC is a group of concerned citizens striving to keep the youth and young adults of the Roanoke Valley informed, educated and aware so that they can make healthy decisions surrounding alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
