What is RAYSAC?

RAYSAC has helped prevent youth substance use in the Roanoke Valley for more than 30 years through education, community partnerships, and prevention programs that support healthy, drug-free lives for young people and families.

Our Mission

To support the development of resilient, healthy, alcohol and drug-free youth, thereby reducing substance misuse and abuse in adulthood. 

Our Vision

We envision a safe, supportive community where youth are empowered to make healthy choices and adults have the tools to guide and support them.

RAYSAC serves the cities of Roanoke and Salem and the counties of Roanoke, Botetourt, and Craig. We are supported by Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare.

We believe prevention works. When a community comes together, we can make a lasting change. 

RAYSAC In Action

We bring together schools, law enforcement, healthcare providers, parents, youth, and community organizations to help prevent opioid misuse and abuse, as well as OTC and prescription medication safety.

We are always welcoming new partners. Community members, professionals, parents, and youth are encouraged to get involved!

Over The Counter (OTC) Medication Education

We educate the community on OTC med safety by practicing safe storage and usage of OTC medications.
